Membership and Events New Payment Information:
This year we initiated a pay online credit card system. We are asking for
future payments to be made with Spanish bank cards due to the high fees charged The Society from use of foreign-based bank cards. Thank you.

WINNER MARSH AWARDS INTERNATIONAL AWARD
A Success Story Against All Odds:

In May, 2024, the Committee nominated Mr. Tony Cabban for the Marsh Award for Volunteering. In July, we received the announcement that Tony was the winner of the prestigious Marsh Awards International Award. He was both thrilled and surprised, as it was kept a secret that we had nominated him. On August 23rd, Tony accepted his award at The Arts Society AGM in London.

Briefly, this story begins in May, 2023, The Arts Society Marina Alta (TASMA) membership was down by two-thirds and closure was imminent. Factors, such as Brexit, Covid-19, economic downturn and management turnover had taken their toll.

Tony was the founding father of The Arts Society Marina Alta, served as Chair for four years, and then, following statute requirements, had to resign. He then volunteered to return and together with his committee rescued The Arts Society from closure after the effects of COVID_19 and Brexit. Through a variety of innovative ideas including use of social media, reaching out to other community organisations locally, gaining sponsorship, young arts projects and the introduction of flexible membership for ex-pats affected by Brexit, Tony has turned the Society around adding value and pleasure for Members while making a difference to the cultural landscape of the Marina Alta area.

JOIN OUR VOLUNTEERS
Our volunteers offer their time and energy to the inspiration, vision and management of the Society - and they also get something back from volunteering – making new friends and enjoying the knowledge that they are making a difference by supporting our Society’s mission.
Volunteering is easy. We have many areas you may find that fit your interests - from working on the Travel Team to organizing cultural and social trips, to assisting the Hosting Team who offer accommodations in their homes for our visiting lecturers. The Meet & Greet Team arranges for our lecturers’ transportation needs, while we also have volunteers working on art projects for our local charity.
There are ongoing opportunities to become a volunteer or join the Committee. If you are interested, please contact Tony Cabban, Chairman via email: ch.marinaalta@theartssociety.org
